Fan Special: Dream Trio: Franco, Mpudi Decca, Ntesa

Shouts out to Jerome Ogola and Joseph Osir.

This is for them.

The trio that should have been.

Franco, Mpudi Decca and Ntesa

WHY? You ask.

These men would have been a better trio than Franco and Ntesa were with Madilu.

Franco is known to be a wild singer who likes to dramatize his voice a lot and wants to show strength behind his voice. Ntesa is pretty jolly and he likes to kind of further that signature sound as a big tenor singer.

Which is why I think Mpudi Decca would fit perfectly with these two men. Though he has a reputation being a bit crazy, he is actually a very relaxed singer. Look at this song Belle Mere.

Mpudi Decca would be able to calm the crazy voices of Franco and Ntesa. Why? Because he actually controls his voice very well which is impressive for someone that some may think is a "mediocre singer". I consider him a solid singer. Maybe not the greatest singer but he has a good voice nevertheless.

Imagine this trio together. They would have been a better force together. Because you would have Franco's wild baritone with Ntesa's jolly tenor with Decca's smooth baritone making a musical force. Two guitarists and one singer. Because they would be make great harmony as a trio. Decca would add soft joy in addition of Ntesa's very joyous tenor voice. It also could have led to a more humorous harmony as well with these three men if they wanted a funny song and I am sure fans would have played it many times.

One good example would have been Franco's Très Impoli. You could have Franco's voice running while Decca would put his mamou imput as well Ntesa's very humorous voice in it too. It would have made the song funnier in my opinion.

What do you guys think?

Special Fan Time: Mpudi Decca

Hello everyone. This is Franco Pepe Kalle. I am doing Fan Voices. People love this man because he was funny and sincere.

His name is Mpudi Decca.

I don't know much about him other than his music career with Franco and OK Jazz. He was a very important bass player for this band for over 20 years. He made his own signature as a bass player.

Case in point, the song Kimpa Kisangani

That bass was too strong.

He actually is a good singer. He knew how to sing actually.
I give the song Belle Mère

I apologize for the photo on this post but it kind of described how funny the song was. It was one of my favorite songs that I have heard for a long time.

But he is most known for the song Mamou with Franco and Madilu. He actually sounded like a woman. Incredible. I still don't know how he managed to do it but he did a spectacular job.

Here is some evidence of this comedy of the song Mamou. Some others call it Tu Vois (You see).

Mpudi Decca has four other songs that were good and strong. They were Nakiosa, Makaya, Bedjeka te, and Ndaya. Ndaya is one incredible song with the trio Josky, Madilu and Ntesa. It was done in Kikongo. Check out the song here.

Mpudi Decca went on to be part of the band OK International with other former OKJ members like Lokombe, Malage de Lugendo, Thierry Maintuka, and Diatho Lukoki.

He sadly passed away in 2007. He will remain one of the greatest bass players in Congolese Music and he is probably number one as bass player in OKJ.
